The Sports Edit's latest ambassador, Camille Vidal, is a wellness expert, yoga teacher and drinks advocate. She is also founder of La Maison Wellness, the new online home for living well with a French twist.
Her mantra is Drink Well, Eat Well, Live Well; because living WELL means doing everything With Enjoyment and a Love for Life. For Camille, living well the French way means enjoying all the things life has to offer because oui la vie est belle!
We caught up with Cami to chat mindfulness, movement and #balance.
What first got interested in yoga and wellness?
I first got introduced to yoga by my mother who was a yogi, a world traveler and an inspiring woman. I remember her trying to convince me to go to a yoga class when I was a teenager and me responding with the attitude - “Mum, that’s your thing, not mine!”
Luckily, I came to my senses in my twenties. Yoga soon became a big part of my life, helping me to connect with myself and stay grounded. As I got older there was a shift in my life when I knew i needed to make a change in my lifestyle, and so i did that with yoga, with meditation, with the way i eat and the way i live.
She would probably laugh a lot seeing me these days, on my mat everyday!
When did you decide to turn it into a career?
It was a gradual transition, but when you start bringing awareness and making more space for wellness and mindfulness in your life there is no turning back. It quickly became obvious to me that that was an approach that I wanted to share with others.
What does a healthy lifestyle mean to you?
Meditate, Move, Make the most out of every moments. It means listening to yourself and what works for you, and accepting that that’s not going to look the same for you everyday and most likely won’t look the same as the people around you.
Who is the person that inspires you most?
Be the energy you want to attract right! I’m forever grateful for the inspiring people I’ve met and keep on meeting in my life. Here in London i have meet so many amazing people, particularly through Just Breathe Project and Sunday School Yoga.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
So what if instead of thinking about solving your whole life, you just think about adding additional good things. One at a time. Just let your pile of good things grow…
What would your dream Sunday look like?
With winter coming and my life and my weekdays being busy, my ideal Sunday would be a morning mediation and yoga practice, followed by a soul-nourishing brunch. The afternoon would be a walk in nature, then some chill time back home reading a good book, sipping on a cup of tea ideally on a comfy couch by the fireplace!
